Aging Professionals Association Boston Bridge Visits MIT AgeLab
by Adam Felts
On June 18th, Boston Bridge, a local professionals association for people who work in the field of aging and an MIT AgeLab affiliate, held their last monthly meeting of the 2024-2025 year at the MIT AgeLab. Boston Bridge is a membership-based, non-profit, professional development organization that aims to bring together individuals who work in the field of aging, with membership comprising students, early-career professionals, and established leaders from various industries. As an AgeLab-affiliated organization, Boston Bridge regularly meets on the MIT campus at the Sloan School of Business.
For their meeting at the AgeLab, Boston Bridge members were given a guided tour of the Lab’s research tools and projects, including the Age Gain Now Empathy system, or AGNES, and the C3 smart home demonstration room. These tools are partly intended to spark conversations among professionals in aging about the needs, wants, and experiences of older adults.
Boston Bridge Co-Founder and Past President Barbera Friedman also announced that she was stepping down from the board of the organization. Taylor Brennan, Immediate Past President of Boston Bridge as well as an AgeLab researcher, also announced that she was stepping down from the board.
To honor her decades of service to field of aging and supporting older adults in Massachusetts, the state of Massachusetts Executive Office of Aging & Independence presented Friedman with a lifetime achievement award. In addition to founding Boston Bridge, Friedman established the organization's relationship with the MIT AgeLab.
