2023 GSA Annual Scientific Meeting Features AgeLab Research on Caregiving, UX Design, 85+

AgeLab researchers presented a plethora of research at the 2023 Gerontological Society of America Annual Scientific Meeting, with contributions from Lauren Cerino, Sophia Ashebir, Taylor Patskanick, and Manasi Vaidya on a wide range of topics related to aging, technology, and caregiving.
Cerino served as a presenter and panelist in a symposium organized by former AgeLab Research Scientist Julie Miller on financial exploitation and older adults. Her presentation focused on financial professionals' perceptions of their roles and their experiences related protecting clients from financial exploitation. Additionally, Cerino gave a presentation on caregiving for adult children and longevity planning for a general conference session on family caregiving.
Vaidya led a workshop titled "Creating Accessible Interfaces for Older Users: An HCI Approach," which discussed good UX design practices for older adults. Sophia Ashebir assisted Vaidya with running the workshop.
Ashebir presented on research that the AgeLab conducted with Claire Quinlan, a student at Harvard Medical School, on caregivers' responsibilities related to providing care might affect their preventative health behavior. She also presented on data from a workshop conducted with the 85+ Lifestyle Leaders' Panel on driving behavior and cessation.
The Lifestyle Leaders panel also featured in one of Patskanick's presentations, which utilized findings from the panel to discuss the "oldest olds'" responses to extreme weather and politics related to climate change. Additionally, Patskanick presented a poster on caregiving, work, and mental health on behalf of AgeLab researcher Samantha Brady, who could not attend the conference.
