The Wall Street Journal Profiles AGNES, the AgeLab's Aging Simulator

Wall Street Journal reporter Amy Dockster Marcus experienced AGNES, the Age Gain Now Empathy System, on a visit to the MIT AgeLab's headquarters in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Her taste of AGNES, she writes, is part of an effort to learn how to make proactive steps to make sure she ages well: "Spending a day in the age suit, I hoped, might bring me greater insight into what it is really like to age—and what I could do to prepare."
Her experience of the suit's limits on flexibility, balance, strength, and vision provided her insight into some of the simple everyday challenges that people might face due to declines in later life: reaching a shelf at the supermarket, reading a soup label, or crossing the street at a busy intersection.
